So how do you think I went with wearing my pashmina in Vietnam?

And how about Katie in Darwin?

I would say these are a fabulous accompaniment to any trip!

One of our favourite tourist games!

Ok, the game involves guessing where the other tourists are from based on their outfits. Some of the key items to watch for include the sandals (particularly with socks), vests and and bum bags:

More Natural and Not So Natural Disasters!

Since we left home on 21 Feb there has been a plethora of natural disasters. These include floods, cyclones, earthquakes and tsunamis.

I now hear that there has been a major (super) earthquake in Japan registering 8.9 on the Richter Scale , with flow on tsunami warnings for Japan, Russia, Taiwan, Hawaii, PNG, Solomon Islands, Australia and more.

Is this normal for this time of year?

There has also been an unprecedented uprising in North Africa including Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Yemen, Morrocco and Algeria.
Is there something going on that we do not understand? Perhaps we need a wider range of trip outfits than we originally envisaged!

My Fusion Pakistani/Vietnamese Suit

This is the web address for the tailor we used and loved!

Here is a picture of my favourite outfit so far. It is a bit of a mix of a Pakistani Salwar Kameez and the Vietnamese Ao Dai! Then there is the necessary blend of the trip advisor's savoir faire!!

Trip Advisor's idea to take off in Canberra

Good ideas travel fast - it seems the ACT is to have an ice skating rink in Garema Place! It is to be completed by July this year and will be open day and night! Perhaps we could import our skating outfits (like the one pictured) from Da Nang to Canberra!

Trip Advisor has an Idea!

After much serious consideration, frivolity and straight-out falling-down laughter with Timo and his friend Wendy, the trip advisor forged a brilliant idea to build an ice skating rink in Da Nang. Of course the original idea was Timo's but Wendy and I built on it and took it to where it is today. Katie provided some input but was a little too tired to really participate in this lunacy - due to too much shopping!!!

See above a rough sketch of what we're talking about. Snow and ice are a subject of extreme curiosity in Vietnam. The rink will be solar powered and use recycled grey water from the huge feature laundromat on site. Skating outfits can be designed, fitted and completed in 2 hours and the skates can be colour matched to all outfits, in 15 mins. Kakaoke will de rigueur and can be done whilst skating, along with a slide show for our sponsors.

Timo,Foie Gras, Prawn Pizza & Villa Maria

When Timo is not busy managing the production of deluxe feasts for the hoi polloi, he is busy relaxing. He slips his thongs off, grabs a fresh beer and checks out the latest menus. Luckily, his mother is also able to adopt this approach to taking a holiday. Pictured below is our antipasti which included the Foie Gras (it is hiding under the crostini that is lying down on the left). The pate, salami, cheese, tomatoes &parma ham were divine, as was all the other food we had at Don Ciprianis!!! The King Prawn Pizza was to die for and perfectly suited to the chilled glass of Villa Maria Sauvingnon Blanc!!! Blisssss

Taxi Katie - No Advice Required

I am not sure that I actually paid for any taxi - Katie was a champion taxi payer. We would have ridden in approximately 85 different cabs. I think she just loved the conversion thing and the interaction!.......Fabulous work Katie, the trip advisor was really able to take a holiday!

Checking out the Silks

Please note that in this photo, the trip advisor is wearing quite a fancy maroon raw silk shirt. I brought it with me all the way from Manuka. Peri Cutten of course, I meant to get it copied but forgot. Well I didn't really forget just needed something to wear after giving all my other items to the tailor to copy. Guess I'll have to go back again - very soon.

I feel I have to go back to Hoi An quite soon and buy some of the gorgeous kids pajamas hanging under this awning. I am also keen to test out the Omo!

Swimming Before Hotdog

Katie suggested she put her hair into a hotdog style! As the ever vigilant trip advisor I suggested she go for something more like these.

New Restaurant at Siver Sands

Our Chef Advisor advised us to try the new Mediterranean Restaurant at Silver Sands. Katie was quite excited to try some different cuisine. This is what we discovered. Great spot - probably ready in a few weeks?

Poolside Hot Dog at Silver Sands!

Ok, so Katie did not like this resort. From the word go she was unhappy - even the giant mushrooms in the breakfast buffet room didn't quell her angst. So when we were relaxing by the pool, I perused the menu above and asked Katie to order the Hot Dog while I went for a dip and had a sleep. She refused because it wasn't listed in VND or USD! I wasn't planning to eat it, I only wanted to know what was in it, so that I could advise her on which of her medications she would need to have after it - LMAO! The trip advisor really only had eyes for the sausage roll. Posted by Picasa

Giant Mushroom or Just a Fun Guy?

I bet you have never seen anything like this before - I suppose it adds to the ambience of the buffet, but am not really sure?
